Alaska´s Bermuda Triangle
In Alaska, there is on average 4 out of every 1,000 people who disappear without a trace of what happened to them. Many people blame it on wild animals or the harsh weather and huge forest; however, that does not explain how their bodies are never found. The Tlingit tribe, which is native to Alaska, tells the urban legend of the Kushtaka and explains that this is the reason for all the disappearances. They are said to be half-human and half-animal and they are very dangerous and aggressive. It is said that they use the sounds of babies or scared woman to draw innocent people in before ripping them apart, but there is never any trace of the person left behind.
I think this legend was created to try and prevent people from travelling into the vast wilderness of Alaska alone or at all because of how dangerous it can be.
This is relevant to Alaska´s society because it will be spread throughout the towns and teenagers which can help warn everyone including tourists of the dangers in Alaska that they might not take seriously. Because it has some spook in it, people will be likely to share it with others, but it also has some facts about the amount if people who go missing in Alaska which can bring more attention to the scary fact.
This urban legend shows me how the world is a much darker place and some stories that people tell to scare people have a deeper meaning and were made to help prevent kids and others from doing things that can lead to something bad or dangerous.
